We are pleased to announce the latest investment in our temperature-controlled fleet with the addition of two new SOR refrigerated trailers fitted with Sunswap’s revolutionary Endurance electric refrigeration units, supplied through our long-term partnership with TIP Group.
This investment marks another important step in our commitment to delivering a more sustainable, efficient and innovative transport operation, while continuing to provide the exceptional service our customers expect.
The new electric refrigeration units are powered by battery technology, initially charged from the mains at our depots, with roof-mounted solar panels providing supplementary charging throughout operation. By removing the need for diesel-powered refrigeration, the trailers offer significant reductions in emissions, noise and operating costs.
Following a successful operational trial, the Sunswap Endurance units demonstrated outstanding performance across our chilled, frozen and pharmaceutical distribution network. The trial also highlighted a noticeable reduction in noise, particularly during overnight residential deliveries, improving the experience for both our drivers and local communities.
The new technology also provides real-time temperature monitoring and comprehensive audit-ready reporting, supporting the stringent compliance requirements of our pharmaceutical and temperature-sensitive logistics customers.
Brian Sagaseta, Owner and Managing Director of Chiltern Distribution, said:
“We’ve spent the last year investing in our people, our systems and the way we run this business. That includes our transport operation, which we want to be efficient, reliable and cost-effective, whilst ensuring it is as sustainable as it can be. We’re confident that the addition of these units to our fleet will deliver on those ambitions.”
This latest fleet investment reflects our ongoing commitment to innovation, environmental responsibility and delivering industry-leading temperature-controlled logistics solutions across the UK.
We would like to thank TIP Group, SOR and Sunswap for their support in bringing this exciting project to life. We look forward to seeing these trailers on the road as part of the Chiltern Distribution fleet.
